This much we know: There are a lot of images floating around out there online. A lot of them depict New York City. And a lot of them are on Flickr.

We want to see the photos that reveal new ways of looking at our shared built environment: unveiling hidden details, documenting cool projects, or sharing uncommon perspectives. We want to highlight those photographs online that make visible the relationship between what’s built and how it’s experienced, mining the city for clues as to how to make the city better by design. So… tag your Flickr Photos “urbanomnibus.” Show us anything you think fits the bill. Or, take cues from our ever-growing archive of features. Stuff like:

+ Vacant lots and community gardens, especially in East New York

+ Street crossings in Grand Army Plaza

+ The East River & the power grid

+ Traffic in the Upper East Side

+ Atlantic Yards

Every once in a while we’ll crowd-curate the coolest of these images. And we all just might learn something in the process.

This is a very cool idea. Is it still going ahead? How will the crowd-curation process work?
