We are celebrating 15 years — and counting — of stories that are deeply researched and deeply felt, that build a historical record of what the city has been.
Last summer, we showed you an Architectural League-produced video documenting Little Free Library / NYC, a project launched by the League and PEN World Voices Festival to bring a series of small book shelters to the streets of Manhattan. Ten teams of architects and designers conceived, built, and installed these little libraries on the occasion of the 2013 IDEAS CITY festival. In so doing, the League and PEN World Voices brought a global movement — Little Free Libraries have popped up in more than 15,000 locations around the world over the past four years — to New York City.
Tonight, WNET New York Public Media television program MetroFocus will air a segment on Little Free Library / NYC and the re-installation of the Two Bridges library. MetroFocus talks with Chat Travieso, the designer of the Two Bridges library; Anne Rieselbach, the League’s Program Director; and Victor Papa, President of Two Bridges Neighborhood Council, the community partner for that LFL location.
The segment will air tonight, May 15th, on NYC Channel Thirteen, at 8:30pm, and on New Jersey’s NJTV at 10:30pm. Tune in to your local WNET station for more, or watch video from tonight’s episode above.
