OmniBeers | October 22

The Urban Omnibus team always relishes an opportunity to get out from behind our screens and meet our readers in person. And, frankly, it’s been too long since we’ve done so in an organized way. So join us on Wednesday, October 22nd, for what we are provisionally calling OmniBeers, a gathering of Omnibus readers, writers, editors, and general urban enthusiasts over happy hour drinks.

We’ll be at Scratcher in the East Village from 6:30–8pm, so grab a beer ($4 pints until 8pm) and join us. Meet other urban enthusiasts, follow up on recent articles, hear what’s in the works, give us your feedback, tell us what you are working on, or just hang out. We’re excited to see you again or meet you for the first time. Feel free to bring food along; we’ll also have some snacks. And do us a favor and invite a friend, particularly if they’ve never heard of our publication. We promise they’ll come away with a renewed understanding of the neighborhood bar’s crucial role in the urban environment and a spiffy Urban Omnibus sticker, at the very least.

Oh, I love that little bar, I used to live right above Scratcher. Good memories. Wish I could join you all there tonight.
However, tomorrow, this rare NYC appearance of Kunstler happens at Cooper Union; not to be missed, and not too far from Scratcher:

Kunstler (http://kunstler.com/) will be giving his illustrated “Too Much Magic” talk in New York City in the Great Hall of Cooper Union, 7 East 7th Street, at 6:30 pm on Thursday October 23rd.
The event is free and open to the public.

He is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it would behoof more citizens in this city to hear his views…
