On August 18, 2019, Greta Byrum hosted Radio Past | Radio Future — a live, lower-power microbroadcast on 87.9 FM from The Lobby in Brooklyn. During the broadcast, Byrum explored some of the implications of a “distributed future” where technological infrastructures are built and maintained by communities. The broadcast included voices and sounds from The Lobby, along with recordings of Octavia Butler and Grace Lee Boggs, Very Low Frequency (VLF) earth radio recordings by Stephen P. McGreevy, and the soundtrack to Early Abstractions, a short film series by Harry Smith.
